Caves Beach Interior

Interior Design, Caves Beach NSW

Builder | Odex Constructions

Site & Context

Located in the Beachside suburb of Caves Beach, the existing home was built circa 1960 with characteristics typical of mid-century design.

Client & Brief

This project was a small internal renovation project including minor external upgrades, to an existing brick home for a couple who recently relocated to Caves Beach. The interior design brief sought for a minimal and serene palette, drawing on our clients first hand experience of Finnish interiors & the beachside location, while respecting the characteristics of the existing 1960's home. Whilst the interior is clean and minimal, the exterior upgrades retain the existing brown brickwork and darker features so that the existing house continues to sit humbly within the landscape.

Design Response

Dulux Antique White USA joinery and American White Oak feature throughout the internal joinery with moments of playfulness created by features such as the navy polka dot wall paper. The internal brickwork is retained where it features internally, as a connection to the exterior. The new glass balustrade aims to be visually recessive whilst also accentuating the existing brickwork and optimizing ocean views.
